The Grad Network Advisory Board is an opportunity for graduate students to help shape The Grad Network so that the community is reflective of their interests, goals, and values. 

The Grad Network Advisory Board will include students from different Columbia Graduate Schools and Teachers College in order to best support students across academic disciplines and departments. Students will serve on the Advisory Board for one academic year with the opportunity to renew for another term. 


Students selected to serve on The Grad Network Advisory Board will be responsible for:

  • Attending two meetings each semester Each meeting is 90-minutes and dinner is provided.

  • Completing preparatory work prior to each meeting. Approximately 15 minutes of advanced preparation will be needed for each meeting.

  • Participating in a half-day Advisory Committee Retreat. The retreat is designed to build community among the committee members and outline goals for the year. 

  • Openly and honestly sharing feedback about initiatives and community development

  • Helping to map out the calendar of programs, so experiences are offered during days and times when graduate students are available

  • Serve on at least one sub-committee: Shabbat Committee, Social Events Committee, or School Ambassadors Committee
    Please note each committee has its own set of expectations and responsibilities, which are outlined in the application.

Compensation: 

  • All students selected to serve on The Grad Network Advisory Board will receive a $1,000 stipend for the 2024-2025 term, which will be paid in equal installments at the end of each semester. 

    • Advisory Board members may receive an additional $500 if they serve on --and fulfill the responsibilities for-- more than one committee. 

  • Grad Network registration fees are waived for Advisory Board members, allowing members to participate in all Grad Network experiences at no cost.
