What: This conversation series will explore ethnic minorities living in Israel and their relationship to the Jewish State, as well as Israel's treatment of each minority group. Throughout the series, we will engage with the perspectives of Holocaust survivors, Mizrahi Jews, Ethiopian Jews, Palestinians, Druze, and Soviet Jews. We will also engage with different guest speakers who hold these identities.
Who: The fellowship is open to graduate students and Israeli students at Columbia University. To support engaged learning, the fellowship is limited to 15 students. Melissa Kansky, Director of The Grad Network, and Noa Kolomer, Director of Israel Engagement, will co-lead the fellowship.
When: The learning cohort will meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursdays, with the first 30 minutes reserved for dinner. The first session will be Thursday, Feb. 3 and will continue until April 7.
Why: To encounter new ideas, learn from peers, make friends, and have fun! Additionally, selected participants will receive a $150 stipend for completing the fellowship.
