All applicants must be current degree-seeking graduate students at Columbia Univeristy or Teachers College.

This experience is significantly subsidized because of the generous donations to the Columbia/Barnard Hillel Annual Fund.
The participation fee includes flights, meals, lodging, ground transportation within the Dominican Republic, and programming.

Alternative Breaks offer an opportunity to deepen our understanding of Jewish history, support local community-led services, engage with new ideas, make friends, and have fun!
Throughout the week we will:
Explore a little known-chapter of Jewish and Dominican history
Meet with and learn from local community leaders
Volunteer in public schools and youth development programs
Support community health intiatives and learn about common regional health challenges
Celebrate Shabbat at Sosúa Temple
Enjoy time at the beach and in nearby towns
